Traffic Engineering
Pedestrian Facilities
Walking is attracting increased attention and priority as a valuable transport mode.
We are experienced in designing pedestrian facilities including shared paths and shared spaces, pedestrian-friendly zones and in pedestrian crossing facilities.
Roading Structures
We have experience in working together with structural and civil designers in the design of roading structures such as overpasses, underpasses and tunnels.
Intersection Design
We are experienced in assessing the performance of intersections using computer models and when required we developing practical designs for changes to intersections including traffic signals and roundabouts.
Site and Parking Design
All sites require efficient and practical access to and from the road for vehicles and pedestrians. Many sites require circulation and parking designs that work, often in challenging and constrained circumstances.
Street Design
One of our key strengths is our expertise in designing streets, not just for the movement of vehicles, but streets for people. This is a component of urban master-planning and neighbourhood design, but also includes the design of pedestrian paths and crossing facilities and cycle facilities.
Kidicorp Rotorua
After assisting with several other childcare centres for Kidicorp we were engaged to assist with a new site in Rotorua. This involved helping the design team with the site design and parking layout, and preparing an impact assessment. Access to the site was difficult as the site is located on the intersection of a narrow local road with limited visibility and a busy State Highway. The site is now operating.
Childcare Centre, St Marks
When a property investor wished to obtain resource consent for a childcare centre in the St Marks area in Auckland he engaged us to assist with the design of parking and to prepare an impact assessment for resource consent. This involved surveys of other childcare centres to refine parking demand and trip generation estimates.
We provided expert witness services during the resource consent hearing and a subsequent appeal to the Environment Court.
Encounter Christian Centre
When Encounter Christian Centre acquired a warehouse and office site in a commerical area they engaged Wes Edwards Consulting to review the site design and to prepare an Impact Assessment to accompany the resource consent for the new church auditorium and offices.
Cambridge Park Subdivision
We were engaged by the designers of this new residential subdivision for 300 homes to review the proposed street layout and design and to assist in obtaining consent for subdivision. Resource consent has been granted.
Addison Centre
We were engaged by Addison Developments to assist in the development of a new neighbourhood centre. We joined the design team in preparing street designs, site designs, and parking designs; prepared impact assessments and appeared as an expert witness in a resource consent hearing. Consent was granted.
The neighbourhood centre concept included retail shops, a restaurant, offices, and a child-care centre.
