Transport Planning
Pedestrian Facilities
Walking is attracting increased attention and priority as a valuable transport mode.
We are experienced in designing pedestrian facilities including shared paths and shared spaces, pedestrian-friendly zones and in pedestrian crossing facilities.
Kohimarama Plan Change
Our client had a challenging development problem - a block of undeveloped land in Kohimarama with relatively steep topography and constrained access and a goal of building a 200-unit apartment-style retirement village.
Addison Centre
We were engaged by Addison Developments to assist in the development of a new neighbourhood centre. We joined the design team in preparing street designs, site designs, and parking designs; prepared impact assessments and appeared as an expert witness in a resource consent hearing. Consent was granted.
The neighbourhood centre concept included retail shops, a restaurant, offices, and a child-care centre.
Waterside Business Centre
We were engaged by Waterside Business Centre to assist them in developing their land-holding in Mangere, Auckland. This included an assessment of the best purpose of the land that involved extensive investigations and designs for developing the land as either an industrial business park or residential development.
We subsequently undertook detailed traffic modelling, investigated intersection upgrading, assisted with subdivision design, produced an Integrated Transportation Assessment and presented evidence at a recent Plan Change hearing.
Ascot Parade, Ellerslie
We were engaged to assist with obtaining subdivision consent for this new office development providing over 17,000 m2 of office space and for assisting with the design and assessment for the first of four buildings.
Taupo East Urban Lands
We were engaged to review the masterplan for this area that proposes 2000 new houses, a town centre, and a tertiary campus in Taupo.
We advised on subdivision layout, street and intersection design, and connections to the road network. The masterplan makes extensive use of cycle paths and promotes numerous pedestrian-friendly aspects.
Anselmi Ridge
McConnell Property requested our assistance with the design and assessment of this masterplanned residential area in eastern Pukekohe. Stage 1 has provided sites for 175 homes and plans for subsequent stages are well advanced.
Karaka Harbourside
Wes Edwards Consulting was engaged to assist with the preparation of subdivision designs and assessments for the various stages of this residential subdivision on the northern shores of the Hingaia Peninsula, Papakura adjacent to the southern motorway.
Hingaia 1A Plan Change
Wes Edwards Consulting was engaged to assist in developing a plan change to change rural land adjacent to the Papakura Southern Motorway Interchange to urban zoning with provision of a Town Centre and over 1,300 homes.
This involved investigating the traffic impact on the road network including the motorway interchange and presenting evidence to a plan change hearing and subsequently to the Environment Court. Subsequently we were engaged to assist in developing the Karaka Harbourside and Karaka Lakes subdivisions.
Kirikiri
A consortium of landowners in Takanini Structure Plan Area 2b engaged Wes Edwards Consulting to help rezone their land from rural to urban.
