Impact Assessments

Any significant project requiring a resource consent or a plan change will require an assessment of traffic impacts and we have been involved with many such assessments for a wide variety of activities.

We typically begin by investigating the condition of the local transport environment with respect to congestion, traffic volumes, road safety, parking demand, and any plans for change in the light of the relevant planning policies.

Access to the site, additional traffic generated by the proposal, parking supply and demand, are evaluated and the performance of the road network is estimated so that the impact of the proposal can be described.  This is assisted by our access to sources of data for parking and traffic generation from other sites.

In some cases we identify that changes to the roading network are required in order to accommodate a development and we develop concept plans for roading improvements.

Accessibility and level of service is also considered for pedestrians and cyclists, and access to public transport is often evaluated.

Our investigations are presented in Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) or Integrated Transportation Assessment (ITA) reports.
